Starting off the tricky part is getting the wood mounted on to the lathe. The centre of the blank is drilled out and then carved out using hand chisles to allow the chuck to fit.
Once the bowl is on the the outside can be turned. This is the point where you find out if the lovely natural edge is going to stay on or fly off out the workshop door!
The outside is then finished with lots of sanding, varnish and care.
Now the bowl is reversed and carefuly mounted so the inside can be hollowed out and finished in the same way as the outside. Then it's time to find a nice place to do it justic.
